18th Century Swedish Caged Candlestick.
A rare 18th century Swedish caged adjustable metal candlestick, having a traveller for adjusting the height of the candle and a hook to one side for carrying or hanging. The candle is supported within a vertical metal rounded open frame with two supporting wire rods, seated on a circular tray with a decorative edge, which in turn is supported on a conforming moulded birch wood base. It was probably in a museum or collection at one time, as there is a scratched reference number 812 on the metal support. It is an extremely interesting item, the like of which we have not come across before.
Swedish Circa 1780.
