A Roman blue-green conical glass beaker.
Circa 3rd Century AD.
The conical beaker in translucent pale blue green, with horizontal trail in the same colour around upper body below the rounded and thickened rim. Set on a base ring, the bottom with a pontil scar.

Literature
Jars of this shape are a common type among Cypriot finds and usually had lids, often painted on the underside (S. B. Matheson, Ancient Glass in the Yale University Art Gallery, Yale, 1980, p. 99, no. 264). Matheson notes that 'the frequency of Eros as the subject suggests these were jars for cosmetics'. there are several related jars in the Cesnola Collection: see for example Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, acc. nos. 74.51.240; 74.51.238; 74.51.251.
