Kochert Penguin Brooch circa 1950.
An unusual and quirky carved penguin brooch.
This stylised design is typical of the animal and bird jewellery from the 1950s. The penguin is realistically figured from carved chalcedony (a blue-ish form of quartz) and set with a cabochon ruby as an eye and 18ct gold wings, beak and feet. The brooch is beautiful quality and in wonderful condition.
The brooch was made by Kochert who are one of Austria's premier jewellers.
Price Code: C, £1000 - £2500.
Era: Post-war, circa 1940 - 1960.
Measurements: Length 2.8cm; Weight 14.4g.
Hallmarks: Stamped with Austrian 18ct gold marks, Kochert hallmark.
