Georgian Papier Mache Tray On Stand Table.

A Delightful Early 19th Century, George III Period, Papier Mache Rectangular Tray Having Black Lacquered Background With Hand Painted Hunting Scene And Floral Decoration, House On Attractive Later Stand With Double Faux Bamboo Legs And Turned Pad Feet.

Converting old antique papier mache trays into coffee tables by placing them onto more recently manufactured stands is a great way of recycling old items of furniture which may not have a great amount of purpose to most people these days into something which serves a purpose in any room of any house. Therefore we find many, many antique trays of varying shapes, sizes, dates, qualities and styles turned into coffee tables.

This beautiful tray on stand is slightly larger than most and the stand which it has been placed on top of is therefore slightly more robust than many which you will find. The stand also boasts great elegance alongside its great presence and we particularly like the double legs on each corner and the turned pad feet at the bottom

The tray itself is also particularly nice, having a lovely scene for decoration which really stands out. More often than not the decoration of these trays is just some variation of a floral scene or similar, so we think its really rather lovely to actually have character and figures as well.

Its condition is good with a few old blemishes to the tray and the lacquer has also crackled slightly in a few places, but certainly there is nothing visually unappealing in that respect and definitely no structural defects.

This tray on stand has been inspected by our highly skilled, trained antique furniture restorers and received a natural wax polish before being offered for sale to ensure it is ready for immediate placement after purchase.
