A George I Figured Walnut Country House Bureau of Excellent Colour and Patination.

Circa 1725.

Original metalwork with drawer linings of the finest wainscot oak.

Width: 3’ (91.5cm); Depth:21” (53cm); Height: 41” (104cm).

This handsome bureau has all the qualities of a piece of furniture made for a grand country house where it was both used and cherished by an important family. The baize lined fall front encloses an interior of a long drawer with pigeon holes above and flanked by four short drawers to each side.

Almost certainly commissioned by the Medlycott family for Ven House Somerset. Then by descent at Sandford Orcas Manor.
