A charming Bronze vase depicting a pair of Toads stalking a Snail (Japanese Circa 1880).
From our collection of Japanese, late 19th Century metalware, this wonderful vase depicting a pair of Toads stalking a Snail on a large stalk of Bamboo.
A brilliant example of Japanese Meiji-era (1868-19122) creativity and humour the smaller toad appears to be complaining to the Senior, perhaps a sign that he is impatient for his dinner.
