18th Century Satinwood Inlaid Cabinet.

A George III period West Indian satinwood marquetry inlaid two door cabinet, possibly Chippendale from St Martin's Lane, London.

The well figured marquetry top is crossbanded with tulipwood, boxwood, and ebony stringing.  The marquetry inlays to the top are of the finest quality with floral branches tied with a ribbon. The rounded corners sit above canted columns. The fluted inlays are padouk and topped and tailed with horizontal crossbandings. The frieze is crossbanded in tulipwood to match the sides and the doors. The sides are highly figured West Indian satinwood panels. 

The doors open to reveal a cupboard and a single shelf. The door panels are finely made and crisply inlaid in marquetry, still retaining detail and colour. The floral bouquets are tied with a ribbon on each door and mounted on well figured satinwood veneers. The doors are crossbanded in padouk, boxwood stringing, mitred satinwood veneers and outer bands of tulipwood, boxwood and ebony. 

The two door cabinet is raised on neat satinwood veneered and ebony strung block feet.

The cabinet is London made and almost certainly made in the famous St Martin's Lane district where Thomas Chippendale, John Cobb, William Vile, William and John Linnell, Ince and Mayhew and other celebrated cabinet makers worked.
