Scottish Chippendale Period 18th Century Armchair.

A George III 18th century period armchair in the manner of Thomas Chippendale. 

The outer rails are softly rounded with right angled corners above elegant shaped arm rests and rounded mahogany uprights. 

The centre back splat is carved in the solid with ‘S’ scrolls to outer edges with gothic arches to middle section and to the lower section carved acanthus leaf and punched hole decoration 

The back splat is the main feature above the saddle seat, with the lower section of the seat studded twice to emphasise the shape of the upholstered seat. The ‘H’ stretcher below is constructed with rounded mahogany struts that support the legs. 

The front legs are neatly carved with egg and dart mouldings with the rear legs chamfered and shaped.
