George II mahogany chest of drawers.

A superb George II period mahogany chest of drawers; the well figured top above a brushing slide and four oak lined, graduated drawers which have ovolo mouldings and retain their original shaped open backplate handles; raised on the original bracket feet.

This Georgian chest is an exceptional example from the mid Eighteenth Century. The cabinet-maker has chosen beautifully figured mahogany for the top and drawer fronts and the handles have a lovely depth to their casting with good, chunky bails. Amazingly the chest has survived in almost untouched condition; the handles and feet are original and the mahogany has acquired a wonderful colour and patination over almost 300 years.
